🗓️ Attendance, Arrival & Behavior Expectations
When should students arrive and how do they check in?
Students should arrive about 5 minutes before class. When entering, they should bow at the door, grab their attendance card, and prepare to line up respectfully for class.
What if my child is having a difficult day?
We understand! Instructors are trained to support emotional regulation. If a child becomes upset mid-class, please allow them to stay—this builds resilience. If they refuse to attend beforehand, we recommend a no-screen “quiet time” at home to reinforce boundaries.
What are the expectations for siblings and guests?
Siblings must remain quiet and supervised. Loud play, climbing, or using the bathroom as a play area are not allowed. Movies or devices must use headphones.
Can my child be barefoot outside?
No. For safety and hygiene, shoes must be worn outside. No shoes are allowed on the mat; guests should remain seated near the main door if shoes are not removed.
🥋 Uniforms, Gear & Orders
What should my child wear to class?
Full uniform: jacket, pants, belt, and AKF t-shirt underneath. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, students may wear just the t-shirt tucked into their pants unless told otherwise. See our New Family Guide for a full breakdown.
How do I order uniforms or gear?
Orders may be placed at the front counter or online. Once received, gear will be attached to your child’s attendance card or held for pickup.
Can my child borrow gear if theirs hasn’t arrived?
Yes—limited loaners are available. Students aren’t penalized for waiting on gear, but sizing is not guaranteed.
🏆 Promotions & Testing
What are the requirements to promote?
Students must earn:
- All 7 Skill Stripes
- The required Silver Responsibility Stripes
- Minimum class attendance (14+ classes)
- Promotion registration confirmation

How do I register for promotion?
Visit the Resources Page, select your child’s program and rank. Register at least 2 weeks before promotion to avoid late fees.
How often are promotions held?
Promotions happen every even-numbered month (Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, Dec) and follow a 7-week cycle. Dates are posted on the Events Calendar.
Will my child promote every cycle?
- Pre-Kyuki-Do & beginners: typically promote each cycle
- Intermediate students: every 2–4 months
- Advanced students: every 4+ months
What if my child misses a promotion?
They must wait for the next cycle. We do not offer in-class make-up tests.

How do I register for events?
Visit the Events Calendar and follow the event-specific instructions.
- Academy events use secure checkout links
- Federation events require your child’s Student ID# (from Kyuki-Do.com)
What if I lost my child’s Federation login or ID?
Do not create a new account. Contact the Academy for help retrieving it.
How are updates shared?
Weekly newsletters are emailed to all families. The Events Calendar is always up to date.

When will my child move to the next program level?
Progressions are based on readiness and development, not just age. You’ll be invited to a private check-in when your child is ready to advance.

Do you offer birthday parties?
Yes! Families are emailed 3 months before their child’s birthday, or you can email us directly to request one.
